- DISCLOSURE -
There are no warranties of any kind, explicit or implied, on the Stop
software. Stop's executables are provided on an "AS IS" basis. What
this means is that if you decide to use Stop, it is at your own risk.
The developers and distributors of Stop are not responsible in any
fashion.
Stop has been tested under MS-DOS 3.3 and 5.0 and under IBM OS/2 1.3.
It appears to have all the bugs worked out, but who knows!!!
- THANK-YOU'S -
Thank yous go to:
Scott Hughes of NightHawk BBS (1:151/406) for his suggestion to
make this program and his beta-testing!!!
Chris Laforet of Programmer's Oasis (1:151/402 & 1:151/401) for
his help in programming Stop, his beta testing, and for lots of other
stuff!!!
- USING STOP -
Now that that's out of the way, Welcome to STOP! A Simplex utility that
creates a top callers/downloaders/uploaders Ansi and Ascii screen!
(Note: Stop (v1.00) only works with Simplex v1.05.00 and above! The
user structures have changed from Simplex v1.04 so Stop won't work with
it!)
To use Stop, the command line syntax is:
C:\> stop [-Nnumber] [-C] [-U] [-D] [-I] [-V] [-Ffilename]
Where:
-N Use "number" entries in files (Default is 10)
-C Create Top Callers file
-U Create Top Uploaders file
-D Create Top Downloaders file
-I Use IBM High-ASCII Characters
-V Verbal Mode - More screen displays, but is also slower
-F Use "filename" as the root name for output file
-N Use "Number" Entries In Files (Default is 10)
--------------------------------------------------
This option allows you to specify how many users you want to appear in
each section of your top callers/dlers/ulers files. The default is 10
users in each section.
-C Create Top Callers File
-U Create Top Uploaders File
-D Create Top Downloaders File
--------------------------------
You can put one, two, or three of these options on the command line.
This specifys what you want Stop to create. Stop can create the Top
Callers list, Top Uploaders list, Top Downloaders list, all of them,
some of them, but not none of them. :-) (did that make sense???)
-I Use IBM High-ASCII Characters in ANSI file
-----------------------------------------------
If you like the box-drawing characters better, then use the -I option.
This substitutes the ----- lines with the ─────── lines (in the .ANS
file only). If you need the IBM characters in the .ASC file, give me a
hollar and I'll fix it up for you ...
-V Verbal Mode
----------------
If your computer locks up while running Stop and you want to see where,
or if you just want to see what is going on, use the -V option. This
slows Stop down a LOT, but it tells what user # is being compiled. (I
could tell a major difference with a 1000 user record file!)
-F Use "filename" as the root name for output file
----------------------------------------------------
The default filename for the ascii and ansi file is STOP.A?? (where .A??
is .ASC or .ANS). If you want to create a different filename, just use
-Ffilename and the .A?? will automatically be added. This is useful if
you want to have 3 options on your information menu like:
[ Information Menu >--------------------------
<1> Show the top callers list
<2> Show the top downloaders list
<3> Show the top uploaders list
<4> Recent Callers
<M> Main Menu
<G> Goodbye!
- UPCOMING VERSIONS -
1) Stop will have the ability to look at an "Exclude" file which will
contain a list of names to exclude from the Stop Ansi/Ascii files.
2) Better documentation!!
3) Who knows, maybe better graphics?
